Well there may be not much of a recommendation for a bank if a broker accredited with that bank who is also a longstanding customer cannot get satisfactory service.
With several additional options of accessing the bank available which may not be available to regular customers I surely empathise with members of the general public who are not receiving an expected level of service from their bank.
I found myself in a position where all my banking was with one of the 2 worst banks I have had the misfortune of working with in my capacity as a finance broker over the past two or three years.
Due to this poor attitude and lack of service this bank lost all banking and transactional accounts last year and a credit card account was closed.
Today the first 2 investment home loan accounts were refinanced away from this bank to another lender. Even the offer of an additional 0.20 percent off the standard variable rate was no where near an incentive to even slightly consider staying.
Another investment loan will follow in the next month and the final stage of exiting this bank altogether will hopefully be complete before the end of the year.
I was asked by a person employed within the finance and home loan lending industry to lodge a home loan on their behalf a few months ago with this same bank but due to bad experience previously, which risks making myself as a finance broker seem unprofessional, I declined and suggested this person seriously consider seeking finance elsewhere.
It is most disappointing when a business which has grown on a model of customer service turns about completely and lets customer service fall away.
It costs business so much more in advertising and effort to lure new customers while retaining existing customers requires no more than a little customer service when it is needed.
Not returning phone calls emails or messages that are promised simply does not cut it at all.
Goodbye bank we will not be back and I still cannot confidently recommend you to my customers.

Unfortunately I cannot vouch for how a lenders customer service will be into the future but then this a reason why I always suggest limiting exit costs wherever possible when changing lenders or even refinancing or switching loans with your present lender.
